Higgenbotham Sells Georgia Ranch for $19 Million
Monday, July 06, 2009
Higgenbotham Auctioneers International (HAI) announced today their firm successfully sold at auction 7008 acres of premier farm and ranch land near Waynesboro Georgia. The final gavel fell with over 19 million dollars having been generated on the combined auction properties, which were offered in 28 tracts ranging from 1.9 to 1070 acres. The sale included a historic 7,000 s.f. Plantation style home and six others homes on acreage. Considered by locals to be an historic farm the acreage had all the amenities of a true southern plantation. The property featured beautiful rolling pastures, hay fields, crop-land, large mature woods and boasted great hunting and fishing.
Following 6 days of previews and open houses, the auction was held at the Wardlow Building Community Building in downtown Waynesboro with nearly 200 registered bidders in attendance. The auction was simultaneously broadcast over the Internet using HAI’s proprietary software. The Internet software made live real time bidding available to buyers who could not attend the auction in person.
“In this economy the attendance at the auction is a testament to the fact that auctions generate fair market value and people are still willing to buy homes and acreage at a reasonable price,” commented Earl Williams, Auction Manager for HAI.
“The bidders came from all across the nation and we had a few bidders from other countries. A property such as this one draws interest from around the world,” comment John Haney HAI’s General Manger
